Juniors and Seniors - do you know how your skills and interests line up with different careers? Are you wondering about what type of job and training might be a great fit for you after you leave Mountain View? Sign up for the ASVAB Career Exploration and you will get access to a site that can help you find out. The ASVAB is scheduled on Wednesday October 4th in the auditorium. You will be excused from class that morning. Sign up using the form on the counseling page, in your grade level class in Canvas or stop by the Career Center, room 1238 to get signed up! The Mountain View Native American Heritage Club is meeting today in room 818 during both lunches. We have some important business to discuss and vote on, so we need all students to attend. Don't worry about getting your lunch; we are providing pizza. Make sure you attend.

And now, to celebrate the Hispanic heritage month some information about the Aztecs, one of the pre Columbian civilizations in what is now Mexico. Did you know that this civilization developed a system of compulsory education for all of their children? From the ages of 12 to 15, all children were required to attend a school known as a cuicacalli, or house of song. Here, students learned ceremonial songs and the cosmology of their people. Kids attending school were escorted to and from this school by elders to ensure no one went truant.

Seniors - we are bringing college and career representatives to you to help you with your post-high school plan: Next Tuesday, September 19th we are hosting a road to college night where you can meet with college reps and get a discount ordering your graduation items through Jostens. On Thursday, September 21st, You will have the opportunity to apply to or meet reps from: ASU, Benedictine, GCU, MCC, NAU, SCC, UofA, Universal Technical Institute or EVIT adult career training programs Work with counselors to apply to other schools Create your FSA ID that you will use this year and while you are in college to apply for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) - FAFSA opens December this year Meet with a military recruiter Meet with a rep from Goodwill MyCareerAdvisor to learn about the tools they offer to help you enter the workforce Students who complete an application or create their FSA ID will be entered into drawings for prizes!

Hi Toros! Our Scottsdale Community College rep will visit the Career Center this Friday at 3rd hour and 4th lunch. Stop by to learn about some of their popular programs of study, scholarship opportunities and more! Next week the University of Arizona rep will visit on Monday at 2nd and 3rd hour in the Career Center to go over admissions and general information. On Friday, the University of Arizona Honors College rep will visit at 2nd hour to tell you all about the benefits of being part of the Honors College and go over how to apply. Sign up for any of these events using the form on the Counseling website, the link in Canvas or stop by the Career Center and Mrs. Simmonds can help you sign up. Hope to see you there!

Seniors! There will be a Graduation meeting in the Auditorium on September 13th, that’s tomorrow, during your Gov/Econ class. If you do not have a gov/econ class - please attend at whichever hour is most convenient for you.
